The first book to cover Luis Barragán's complete oeuvre. All 119 of the architect's works (including landscape projects) are included here making this an essential volume. Each building is given a short description plus several photographs, plans and elevations. Included are several essays, including a transcript of an address given by Barragán entitled 'Secret Gardens'. 'In Barragán: The Complete Works we have tried to present Barragán, architect and engineer, through the reality of his oeuvre. Hero-worship and elaborate theorising have no place here, any more than the high-flown language so inappropriate to the simple walls and spaces so typical of the "Mies van der Rohe" of pre-industrial materials of the Mexican vernacular.' (from the editor's preface).
