It was begun in 1984 in the final year of Giacometti's life and the artist was able to collaborate on the biographical elements. It contains the largest overview of Giacometti's work available and it illustrates tables, chairs, lamps, banisters, chandeliers and sculpture. The book was published at the same time as the large retrospective on Diego Giacometti at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris in 1986.
