An autobiography of the art-historian John Richardson told through his homes and residences. It begins with his education at Stowe School and the Slade, it continues with his life in the south of France with Douglas Cooper at the Chateau de Castille, during the 60s and 70s he had a Albany set, and in recent years he had an apartment in New York and a country retreat in Connecticut. The photographs feature his eclectic style of fine antiques, colourful textiles, objects collected over his eventful life and artwork by personal friends such as Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Lucian Freud and Andy Warhol.
