A scarce image-rich book on the work of the Lesage family of embroiderers. Husband and wife, Albert and Marie-Louise Lesage worked as embroiderers for Vionnet and Schiaparelli. Their son Francois inherited the family talent and took the art of embroidery to new heights. His creations graced the haute couture fashion of all the great designers of the second half of the twentieth century, including Cristobal Balenciaga, Hubert de Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Karl Lagerfeld, and Christian Lacroix. The embroidery is exquisite and the images give the reader a close-up view of the artistry and technique.
