Very good; wrappers have general shelf wear with surface marks and creasing to spine, split along lower front hinge.

Rex Whistler designed the title-pages and dust jackets for the early volumes of the English edition of Jules Romains' great cycle of works Les Hommes de bonne volonté (Men of Good Will). This proof volume contains an initial sketch by Whistler for the title-page. The final printed version does differ but many of the original elements in the sketch remain.

An alternative title-page and dust jacket, also designed by Whistler, is used for Books III-VIII.
Near fine; some spotting, mainly to jackets, not price-clipped, no inscriptions, an excellent run.
The whole of Men of Good Willstretched to 27 books. Present here are the first 10 volumes, all that was published by Lovat Dickson.
