A charming notebook filled with the exploits of six friends - Pat, Blanche, Meg, Elsie, Rose and Smuts - amusingly illustrated by Pat. The text covers the creation of the Order of Little Bears, their time spent together during 1942 and the first part of 1943, and the staging of a Little Bears Variety Show in the local church hall. The girls were all from Holy Trinity Girls Club, Ramsgate, and although the content appears juvenile the friends were young ladies, leading individual lives and, if the notebook is anything to go by, getting drunk at parties. It was written during wartime; Smuts is often away training with the W.A.A.F and Pat's brother, Wilfred, is reported killed just before Christmas. A poster for the variety show is folded and pasted to the rear pastedown.
