An illustrated survey of the hugely influential art director Alexey Brodovitch. Brodovitch is best know for his work with Harper's Bazaar from 1934 to 1958. During this period he revolutionised the look of the magazine, placing emphasis on the importance of graphic design and layout and promoting the use of Modernism on the page. He supported many photographers including Cartier-Bresson, BrassaĻ, Avedon and Penn. His magazine designs, as well as his own poster, advertising, book and teaching work are discussed and illustrated.
