A collection of amateur photographs taken at country houses between the 1850s and the 1930s. Simon Sykes sought out albums and tranches of photos in the homes of the British and Irish aristocracy and presents them here as a record of how the upper classes lived in a vanished era. He also brings to light the many unrecorded amateur photographers who were active at the time, many of them women and many of them anonymous.
