This catalogue of 381 items of jewellery represents one of the largest haute couture jewellery collections ever to be offered for sale. It is comprised of the jeweller Robert Goossens' own private collection - "This collection is made up of models and prototypes designed for couturiers Chanel, Balenciaga, Dior and Gres. It is not the collection of a collector, but the result of forty years of creation." (Goossens, 2000). Goossens work celebrates the fabulousness that is haute couture jewellery, with its mix of real and faux, precious and semi-precious stones, and inspiration from various civilizations.
