A fine edition of Daphnis and Chloe illustrated by Chagall. Chagall created the richly coloured and etherally beautiful lithographs for the Greek love story of Daphnis and Chloe during the 1950s. He travelled to Greece several times to draw inspiration from the classical landscalpe. The original edition of the book was published in 1961 and contained 58 original lithographs. This finely-produced reprint includes 42 of these lithographs plus the English text. Daphnis and Chloe is one of Chagall's finest livres d'artistes and it's romantic story and artwork have meant it has always remained popular.
