1932. 149 x 190mm (5¾ x 7½"). 0.01kg. . Near fine; very slightly bumped at corners, a light crease to the top left hand corner.
An invitation card to the opening of the Lewis Carroll Centenary Exhibition held in 1932, a 100 years after Lewis Carroll's birth. The ornate design by Rex Whistler features characters from Lewis Carroll's two 'Alice' books drawn on either side of the central invitation text. Alice, the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and the Frog Footman are depicted in the same manner as John Tenniel's original illustrations. A charming piece of Lewis Carroll and Rex Whistler ephemera.
