An early example of Rena Gardiner's privately-printed guide books to historic houses. The book describes and illustrates Hardwick Hall, the Elizabethan home of Bess of Hardwick in Derbyshire, owned by the National Trust. The text and lithographic illustrations are all provided by Gardiner, who printed the books herself by hand in her studio in Dorset.
