An in-depth study of the genesis and production of one of the greatest photo books of the twentieth century. Published to coincide with the fifty year anniversary of Robert Frank's The Americans, Looking In also accompanied an exhibition at the National Gallery of Art in Washington. The authors retrace Frank's journey across America on a Guggenheim grant and explore his techniques, intents and influences. The original 83 photographs from the book are reproduced faithfully, alongside contact sheets, correspondance and archival images. This hardcover, expanded edition contains additional content to the softcover edition.
