A beautiful photographic record of American architect Louis Kahn's masterpiece in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Kahn designed the monumental and vast Capital Complex of Dhaka in the 1960s. It encompassed the country's parliamentary assembly buildings and took many years to complete. The first volume, Construction uses photographs from the archives to show the design and construction (much of it by hand) of the complex. The second volume, Raymond Meier reproduces Meier's celebratory images from 2002 of the site in which he creates a twenty-first century dialogue between the buildings, the Bangladeshi people and Kahn himself.
