An early publication of the Hogarth Press, containing short stories by Virginia Woolf and original woodcuts by Vanessa Bell. The eight stories by Woolf are A Haunted House, A Society, Monday or Tuesday, An Unwritten Novel, The String Quartet, Blue and Green, Kew Gardens, and The Mark on the Wall. Woolf's sister, Vanessa provided four bold and striking wood-cuts to accompany the text, as well as the graphic cover design. Monday or Tuesday was published in an edition of 1,000 copies in Spring 1921. It was hand-set and printed by F. T. McDermott at The Prompt Press, Richmond, 'with Leonard's help and anguish.' (Woolmer. p. xxvi) . It was the first of many titles by the Hogarth Press to appear in the Annals of English Literature, 1475-1950 . [Howard Woolmer. A Checklist of the Hogarth Press. 1986.
