Gertrude Stein's short pre-War biography of Picasso, inscribed by Cecil Beaton to Lady Juliet Duff. Stein's text is a mix of factual history and personal reflections on her own relationship with Picasso as friend and early patron. Cecil Beaton, whose portraits of both Picasso and Stein are reproduced in the book, has inscribed the book to his great friend - 'Juliet Love Cecil', with a small ornamental flourish.
