David Williams. Introduction by Edward Gage.

Edinburgh. Waterfront. 1985. First edition. Inscribed by the author in ink on the half-title. Black cloth hardback, dust jacket. 112 pages. Over 80 black and white plates. 275 x 250mm (10 x 9"). 0.8kg. 0948547006. English. Near fine, in very good dust jacket; light shelf wear to jacket, not price-clipped.

A signed copy of David Williams' photographic study of the pupils at a girls' boarding school in Edinburgh. The photographs came out of a six-month project as photographer-in-residence at the school. The aim of Williams was not to create a documentary but to 'say something very clearly about the way young girls mature into adolescents within that sort of institution'. A mixture of formal and informal portraits of the girls in various pursuits make this a candid social record.
