Catalogue for a retrospective exhibition celebrating the life and work of the French fashion designer Pierre Balmain (1914-1982), held at the Palais Galliera, Paris. The catalogue is extensively illustrated, reproducing many of Balmain's designs, as well as images by the great fashion photographers and illustrators of the day. The texts examine his clothes, his life, the models he used and his costumes for stage and screen. There is also a very detailed chronology and a catalogue of his designs for theatre and film.
