A commemorative volume of the production of 'The Rape of Lucretia' at Glyndebourne, with designs by John Piper. Benjamin Britten's opera was performed at Glyndebourne in 1946 to enormous acclaim. The book includes a foreword by Britten, the complete text of Ronald Duncan's Libretto, and an essay by Piper on his stage and costume designs. Some of the original designs are finely reproduced, alongside photographs of the original production.
