A handbook for the Young Fogey, a social type characterised by conservative, 'Brideshead' leanings. The term become prominent in the 1980s and Young Fogeys included A.N. Wilson, Gavin Stamp, Roy Strong and Quilan Terry. Their inspirations included Evelyn Waugh, country houses, Oxford and Cambridge, tweeds, the Prince of Wales, and art (not modern!). The handbook looks at the people, fashions, architecture, food, interiors and leisure of the true fogey, with lists of fogey and non-fogey items.
