The first English language edition of Thomas Struth's seminal series of museum photographs. Between 1989 and 1992 Struth took images inside some of the World's greatest art galleries, including the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Uffizi, National Gallery, Rijksmuseum, Art Institute of Chicago, Vatican, and Galleria dell'Accademia. Each image contains three elements, the artwork, the museum architecture and the crowd of visitors. Belting's text examines the questions of seeing and perception inherent in each of Struth's photos.
