[Weldon's]
A marvellous 1930s trade catalogue of fancy dress designs for ladies and gentlemen. Weldon's had a large shop in London selling fancy dress costumes and design patterns. The catalogue illustrates 280 designs "for Carnival Pageant and Gala" and the paper patterns were available to purchase for One Shilling each. The costumes are very much of their time. Jazz Pierrette, Frivolity, Pillar Box, The Garden City, and Chelsea Art Student are ripe for a revival. The presence of designs for racial stereotypes reflects attitudes of the time. From our Imperfect Shelves and thus sold at a reduced price, with no frills but reliable packaging.
