Henry Crowder's personal account of his complex affair with Nancy Cunard. Cunard and Crowder met in Paris in 1928 and continued their relationship until 1935, working together at The Hours Press. The injustices and racism that Crowder experienced as a black man were the seed for Cunard's life-long fight against racial discrimination. Crowder aided Cunard with the publication of her Negro anthology. The relationship was troubled and constantly attacked from within and without. When it ended Crowder made arrangements to write a memoir with the help of Hugo Speck. The manuscript was written but was unpublished until 1987.
