A record of British photographer John Deakin's best work. Despite his masterful portraits of artists, writers, models and stars, Deakin never achieved critical or financial success in his lifetime. He was fired twice from Vogue. Robin Muir scoured the Vogue archives, Deakin's friends and the floor of Francis Bacon's studio to bring together over 100 of Deakin's photographs. The book was published to accompany an exhibition on Deakin at the National Portrait Gallery. From the library of theatre designer David Collis, with his dated signature in pencil to the front endpaper.
