In 1985 Piper donated over 5,000 of his negatives to the Tate Gallery Archives. This book reproduces 119 photographs from the archive. Piper used photographs as a source of inspiration for his paintings, but also directly in publications such as the Shell County Guides and Architectural Review. The images capture the British landscapes and its buildings.
