One of the few books on the artist and set designer Pavel Tchelitchev. Tchelitchev looks at his life and work, taking in the artist's migration from Russia to Consantinople, Berlin, Paris, England, New York and Italy, as well as his working friendships with Diaghilev, George Balanchine, Gertrude Stein, Edith Sitwell, Charles Henri Ford et al. Lincoln Kirstein was a patron and champion of Tchelitchev during the years he was in New York. The book's intention was to revive interest in the artist and introduce him to a new audience.
