The sale catalogue for the auction of the late Lord Howard of Henderskelfe's extensive collection of costumes of the Ballets Russes. The costumes come from numerous ballets including Bakst for Scherezade, Le Spectre de la Rose, Daphnis and Chloe, Le Dieu Bleu and The Sleeping Princess, Gontcharova for Sadko and Le Coq d'Or, Matisse for Le Chant du Rossignol, and Messel (a mask) for Zephyr et Flore. The costumes were re-photographed for the sale and these are reproduced here in colour. A description of each ballet is also included.
